Brain Tales (#5 in a series.)
Looking back now on the Brian Brain escapades, I can't really believe that we got away with it for so long!! I mean it was an absurd set up. All the drums on tape, Martin staggering around like a drunken loon, me and Bob providing the backing. The songs were truly awful and although we worked really hard, particularly in the States, we never attracted a substantial following. Most people would come for the novelty factor just to see what this guy from Public Image was up to. Most would leave shaking their heads in disbelief. The later incarnations of BB were marginally better with a full band. But a brass section, dancing girls, or the hanging gardens of Babylon for that matter, can never disguise the fact that Martin has one the worst vocal voices in the history of rock. God bless him!! Some of the backing was marginally interesting, as heard on the "Culture" EP where Pete and Bob along with Martins drums, actually sound o.k. for a while, But then when that dull Northern monotone wail comes in to spoil it all!...Jees.....We basically got paid (very little) to travel round getting pissed and shagging....not a bad way to spend your time I guess but as for making a mark with our music?..Old Brian Brain records can be had on ebay for next to nothing I think most of them ended up down the dump. Try to get hold of the album "Unexpected Noises" and have a listen for it is truly the most awful record you have ever herad...
Thanks for listening.......
